Join our nomad family of four in designing the ultimate Recreational Vehicle for their Arabian Peninsula Expedition!
The family enjoys a life of travel with minimal belongings, schooling on the road and working remotely. The R.V. will be configured to address functional needs such as arrangement and sequence of different spaces relatively to one another, good lighting and circulation, multipurpose and convertible furniture. Once they have reached their ultimate destination in the Red Sea, they will support marine scientists living for an extended period of time underwater while researching. A Deep Sea Habitat will also be designed. It will act primarily as a marine research station and as an underwater community. It will explore the possibility of deep sea habitats of the future. Design considerations will refer to concepts of neighbourhoods/communities and meet ambitious marine sustainability goals.
*If this special KAUST Fall break Camp does not obtain the minimum number of attendees, the camp may need to be cancelled.

A series of fast-paced collaborative workshops devoted to solving a problem and planning its design solution.
Each design charrette will introduce students to the fundamentals of architecture, engineering, science, structures, materials, forms, and spaces. Drawing design inspiration from nature (blooming flowers, animals, shells, spider webs, hurricanes, honeycombs, etc.) and beyond, we’ll walk through the engineering design process and thinking routines. In addition to STEAM concepts, drawing, designing and rapid prototyping skills will be developed.
